Just got back from seeing it. Alot funnier than I thought it would be. Much better than Talladega nights imo.

      Re: Blades of Glory

I also caught the sneak preview for free, and I thought it was hysterical. I thought the script was ordinary, but what made the movie enjoyable was the great actors involved and their performances. Be forewarned, if you aren't into a lot of gay jokes, you may not like this. There is a lot of overt gayness in this film, but it is all done in a mocking manner of the figure skating world, which ends up being funny.

Will Ferrell was once again the f'n man in this movie. I thought he carried the movie and it is worth seeing just for him. I wasn't feeling Jon Heder too much, though he had a couple funny moments. I definitely couldn't picture him as a character not named Napeolon Dynamite, which is unfortunate for him. An actor who causes me to literally burst into tears laughing, Nick Swardson, is also in this movie as a deranged stalker fan. He's pretty funny in this role.

The 'Coach' dude (Craig T. Nelson?) I found to also be funny as the straight man to the craziness between Ferrell and Heder. Amy Poehler and Will Arnett were kickass as the villains in this film. Also funny.

As for Jenna Fischer...I think she should stick to Pam. I think she's good on The Office, but I thought she acted identically to Pam in this movie, and that wasn't funny at all. She played her character as the "unsure, lacking confidence, cute girl" and I didn't think that was really funny. I actually cringed when she made appearances in this film. I was expecting more from her, oh well. Got to see a nice shot of her cans.

There are TONS of "that guy"' 's in this movie. The bald, funny, black dude from 40 year old virgin as a gay choreographer (very funny). Mr. Feeny. Andy Richter. Jim Lampley. The pilot from Armageddon as the douchebag father. Then the skating personas - Scott Hamilton (very funny with his over the top gayness), Sasha Cohen, Nancy Kerrigan.

This is a funny movie to watch, I definitely recommend seeing it as a typical funny Will Ferrell flick.

saw the movie last night and for a movie i'd give it a 7/10 but for a comedy a 9/10. It does get dull at some parts but then it comes up with something really funny after that.

I too was very surprised-I wasn't expecting much. Mr Wood-I disagree with your assessment of Jenna Fischer. Although her performance was somewhat "Pam-like" I thought she added a lot to the movie. As far as the last 30 seconds of the movie-WFT was that?????

Well, PlainJane is stretching it, but I see what you're saying. She's got a nice body too.

Jenna Fisher did look incredible. I know what Somiss is saying with the plain jane look. She has that "girl next door" look IMO. That's not a bad thing at all.

I also thought the last 30 seconds were odd. I'm still not sure what the heck that was supposed to be and I'm sure that was the intention.

mjb, what movie theater do you usually go to? My one friend raves about how great waterfront is. I think he said they like have meals there too or maybe it was some place else.

My one friend saw it and said it was alright. Might see it this week if things work out right.

I'm down at the Waterfront all the time. It's a real nice place to see a movie or eat and the trusty (and free) 59U bus goes right through Oakland down to the Waterfront.

psu - I live in Cranberry so I often go to the Carmike theater up here. They have DLP projectors so the picture quality is good. The theater itself isn't as good as the Waterfront though. However, I heard it's getting a renovation and will have stadium seating and be similar to the Waterfront.

A few years ago I used to always make the trek down to the Waterfront (about 40 minutes from me). That theater is very nice. Yes, you can order meals on the second floor. If you pay extra money, you can get VIP tickets ($13 per ticket). What that does is allows you to get into a special section with leather seats and no waiting in lines - you can also get meals delivered to you in that section. I've done it a few times. Great way to watch a movie if you don't mind paying extra.

Truthfully, I stopped going down there because it is further for me and it got bad there a few years ago. There were a few shootings and some other things that I saw when walking around the shopping area that I didn't like.

Saw it last night, very, very funny. I was expecting something like Talledaga Nights, but this movie was much, much more funny. It was almost non-stop laughter in the theater, some short down time, but they did a great job keeping the laughs coming. Probably not as good as Old School or Anchorman, but it really isn't too far behind.

Herder really can't act, but he was pretty funny. And the girl from the Office was hot in the hotel scene, wow, never saw that coming.
