        Yes you need an output, look at 4B, but you don't hook it up from the tv, you hook it up from whatever device is supplying the sound.

            So can i just hook it up to the red and white cords on the component cable that's hooked up to my 360?

              yes, there is an adapter for rca to 3.5mm, I use one to hook my mp3 and laptop to my receiver
