The 50 Greatest TV Commercials Of The 80's

I don't know if this has been done before, but it's a good watch because they're all on YouTube.

LOL good find. I didn't look at all 50 (only about three pages) but that PSA and the one with the Tootsie Roll are some of my favorites. I remember watching that commerical every Saturday Morning.

Re: The 50 Greatest TV Commercials Of The 80's

LOL! I feel so old watching these.

          6. Pepsi
Pepsi was so eager to hitch their wagon to the Madonna gravy train that they ran an ad just to alert people to their upcoming ad, which for the low low price of $5 million featured Madonna’s new single “Like a Prayer.” Then Madonna released her video for the song, which featured burning crosses and assorted sacrilege, pissed off tons of people, and the commercial got yanked. Good investment!
          8. WWF’s Wrestling Superstars
These action figures in reality offered precious little “action” (they were old-school, made of unbendable rubber that didn’t offer any moving joints), but the ads kicked serious *** with a horde of big-name wrestlers, none of them more psychotic than Rowdy Roddy Piper.
I'll never forget this WWE ad.

          10. Jerry Springer for Governor
The best part of this campaign ad from 1982 is how Jerry doesn’t ever say he’s sorry he ****ed a hooker, he’s just sorry he was stupid enough to pay her by check. That kind of honesty wins votes, people!
Even Springer video, running for gov. He was telling the truth.

          12. Teddy Ruxpin’s Friend Grubby
Yup, animatronic animal toys were all the rage in the ’80s, creating an entire generation of kids with unbelievably ****ed-up nightmares.
          Talk about the original Chucky!

          15. Tootsie Pop
How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop? Perhaps a better question is, Kid, why the hell are you naked?
This commercial was so overplayed that it did aggravate me at one point.

          22. Pepsi (Michael Jackson)
Ah, Michael Jackson singing of his profound love for “a whole new generation.” What could go wrong there? Let the kids dance with the nice man! Nicely done, Pepsi. And as Raj pointed out, that’s none other than The Fresh Prince of Bel Air’s Carlton (Alfonso Ribiero) dancing along.
I still can't believe what Jackson did to himself over the years. Shock!

I thought that Tootsie Roll one was from the 70's? And where's that anti-drug PSA where the father goes into his son's room with a cigar box full of butterscotch candies and thinks it's drugs? "From you all right! I learned it by watching you!":y4:

I had a Teddy Ruxpin, but I don't remember anything about them coming out with his friend. Never gave me any nightmares.

              26. Sports Popples- I remember these, don't know how you would actually play a game with them though

LOL! remember getting one for my kid brother when he was 2. he'd see the commercial and beg my mom for one. one xmas, he got it. but, when he saw it live and that Teddy started talk, THE KID FLIPPED! ran into the bathroom and locked himself in it for and hour!...
I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...

Man, those bring back memories. There are a few I had never seen on there though (only a 3-4). So amazing to see how far we have come in such a short time, makes you think what it will be like in another 20 years and we are looking back at the commericials now.
