    ESPN Cancels Quite Frankly

    Link

ESPN has cancelled Quite Frankly, a nightly talk show hosted by Steven A. Smith since its August 2005 inception. The show’s finale was to air Friday night.
The show was once looked upon as a possibility to fill the late-night talk show void that ESPN has long considered.
    Now the bad news.....

Smith will stay with the network in other roles, including hosting four interview specials tied to major sporting events and appearing on network flagship highlight show SportsCenter and NBA programming

His show was still on the air? ESPN should just stick to reporting news and showing games.

What's the over/under on the number of months "Rome is Burning" has left? Why does ESPN continue to try to create these shows? They NEVER work! All ESPN needs to be is ballgames, PTI and SportsCenter...PERIOD! No movies. No "Quite Frankly". Nothing like that.

Oh...and my usual dose of "The Sports Reporters" on Sunday morning? That can stay.

I saw the Madden Nation show. That was more interesting than half the crap they throw on there. Most of these weekly sports shows feature a bunch of idiots who do nothing but yell into the microphone giving out obvious takes or takes that are so absurd they're only brought up to stir the pot.

I have the NHL network and on it they have shows like NHL All Access or Chasing the Dream. In all Access they follow players around in their everday life or show what goes on at practice and in the dressing room.
In Chasing the Dream, they follow a minor league team and it's players to show what they go through to make it to the NHL. Both shows are very entertaining and even my wife enjoyed them.
Why shows like ESPN don't do things like this more boggles my mind. Even following a pee wee football team would be cool. Show the parents, the players, coaches, etc. Two-a-Days was very interesting. I'd much rather watch that than Rome is burning where Rome gives out his self-professed 'epic' takes that are no different than 90% of the sports worlds.

Hopefully Rome is next to go, watching he ugly mug on TV is unbearable!
Steven A. and Rome are the two best interviewers out there just ask them.

                    EPIC post!

The only reason Rome's show works is because of the clones. And it's in my belief that it drives Rome nuts. He knows he can't make a good show without them. He's so egotistical he probably figures everything his talented *** touches is gold. Errr! Wrong!

I think Rome is Burning is safe because of its time slot, the ratings will suck because it is on when everyone but the unemployed and students are working. So ESPN really doesn't lose anything by leaving it on, that being said though I'd bet it goes as soon as Rome's contract with ESPN expires.

I view Madden Nation the same way I do the WSOP, sure not everyone will say it should be on ESPN, but as our culture evolves the niche for these to be shown evolves as well, so it is simply just ESPN keeping with the times. I also don't think we are too far from ESPN showing Video Game tournaments live or semi-live, maybe 1-2 years.

In other ESPN related news, unless it was a storyline, Cheap Seats was cancelled on ESPN Classic. That is a shame, I think I spent more time watching that over the past few years on an ESPN network than anything else that didn't involve Florida State football.

Stephen A is the most annoying guy on ESPN. Maybe they should give a late night talk show to Tony Reali, I have never had a problem with that guy.

Or ::gasp:: they could air live sporting events from the West Coast, even if it is Volleyball or Water Polo, it is better than ESPN and its bastard family of networks attempting to enter the late night talk show arena.
