    The Shield : Season 6

    The Shield Set to Return
FX announces a return date for the series, plus a special mini-episode to premiere online.

It's been a long wait for fans of The Shield, as the last original episode aired March 21st, 2006. This weekend saw the news Shield fans have been waiting for, as FX used the TCA (Television Critic Association) Winter Press Tour as an occasion to announce that The Shield Season Six will premiere on April 3rd.

However, it turns out there will be some new Shield content sooner than that, thanks to a surprising source: Bud.TV, a new entertainment website being launched by Anheuser-Busch. Television Week has revealed that one of the first pieces of content on Bud.TV will be a brand new 15 minute mini-episode of The Shield. As part of an advertising and promotional deal between FX and Anheuser-Busch, the new site will be the exclusive source of the mini-episode for four weeks. After that, the episode -- which will be preceded by an Anheuser-Busch commercial -- will be available on several other sites, including AOL, as well as certain cable on demand and satellite TV promotional channels. However, it will not air on FX itself.

The mini-episode will bridge the gap between season five and six of the series, picking up with the funeral for Lem (Kenny Johnson), who died in last season's finale. Flashbacks will be shown of Lem, in previously unseen moments, as his colleagues remember him.

Bud.TV will launch February 5th, the day after the Super Bowl. However, the article in Television Week didn't state a specific date for The Shield mini-episode to premiere. Presumably, it will be at least a month before the The Shield Season Six begins.

Since the last season of The Sopranos is set to debut in April, things are looking good for Spring or near Spring.

Only show I watch on tv. I still feel the pain of Lem dying. I just gotta see how Shane will work his way outta this. Especially since him and Vic haven't been getting along.

Best show on TV, can't wait to have it back. Season 5 on DVD comes out in just over 2 months. I'm going to try to watch the whole thing the weekend before Season 6 starts. Just finished watching Season 3 again.

I've seen every episode of this show and am I the only one that gets the feeling that the series will end with Shane killing Vic and then himself? That type of dramatic ending would be just what I would expect from such a dramatic and nutso show as the Shield.

I've said it in every Shield thread we've had, only way to end the show is Vic dying or being locked up.

Yeah and what better way to have him die than to have him betrayed by his best friend all along, thus ending in an almost Greek tragedy type ending. There is also the possibility that Vic could end up going out in a hail of gunfire rather than be arrested and killed that way.

I think the main issue with the people who write the Shield is to have Vic go out in a way in which he is not "pussified" in a sense I don't see him turning informant or anything like that. It would change people's view of him and probably hurt sales of future DVDs. It's kinda hard to watch him being a bad@ss on DVD knowing later on he becomes an informant or something lame like that.

I'm almost caught up in the Sopranos. I'm also trying to catch up on Grey's Anatomy. I'm just wondering if I should try to get caught up on this one, 24, CSI, or something else. I love that they have these things on DVD.

I'd say this is probably the easiest to catch up on, as there are less episodes than 24 or CSI...and it's a fantastic show that you really could watch in a two-day span because you don't want to stop.
