    Sattelite Dish Question

I have a question(or 2) I am getting Direct tv tomorrow, and was just wondering if snow accumilation(sp) on the dish is a problem. If it is a problem,is there anything that could be done to prevent the build up of snow.
Also, do you experience any pic problems due to snow conditions.
Thanks for any info or insight

    Re: Sattelite Dish Question

I have had direct TV for 5 years now and the snow has never been a problem. Two years ago we got 24" of snow and the picture never went out once. The only "interference" I have ever experienced is during a really bad thunderstorm. I dont know why but sometimes when it rains really hard I will loose my picture, again this does not happen very often but it does happen.
And again the snow has never been a problem.

      Re: Sattelite Dish Question

We just go over an ice storm here in Austin and our service was interrupted. About 1/2" to 1" of ice accumulated on the dish and the three prong things in front of it. I called customer service, they told me to either use de-icer, or scrape it off. I hauled out my ladder and just peeled it off, and my service was back. Our dish does go out in moderate to heavy rain also. This does suck, but the quality of the picture is so much better than cable I still think its worth it!
