Honestly, this joint is not all that nice to me. At least they're giving my boys some props: Eddie in the top 10, Martin in the top 40, Pryor as all-time greatest. Still, lot of people on there that definitely shouldn't be as high as they freaking are. Ridiculous. What do you guys think of that list? Personally, not liking Rosanne being up there that high.......

Louis C.K., Lewis Black, David Cross, and Richard Jeni should be higher than they are.
Top 20 is very good though, IMO.Blind to this impending fate

Re: 100 Greatest Stand-ups Of All Time??
I haven't seen Woody do standup (I don't think he's taken the stage in over 30 years) but I've heard some of it, and it was pretty darn amazing. There are a couple of albums and a couple of books that are taken from his standup routines that are really, really good.
You could quibble a little with the order, but as Acid said the Top 20 are all great. I may not like some of those people's styles (I'm not a huge Seinfeld guy) but I can't argue much with their placement.
What is hard is comparing eras - guys from the 30s and 40s and some from the 80s and 90s. Different times, different styles, different things people find funny. I like Jack Benny and George Burns, but I have trouble comparing them to Dave Attell and Bill Hicks.Comment

Re: 100 Greatest Stand-ups Of All Time??
Pryor in my opinion is a million times better than even the second best comic ever. I think Dave Chappelle is just a Pryor rip off, if you think Chapelle is making up this stuff and real original, you need to buy the Richard Pryor show DVD and guess who helped Pryor with a lot of his stuff? That's right Paul Mooney. At least Chapelle has never lied about the heavy Pryor influence, but Pryor is much funnier and more original than Chapelle, who is still very funny in his own right.Comment

Didn't Dane only really breakthrough in the last four or five years though? I know he's been toiling for years, but he only really blew up sometime this decade. That list was compiled in '04.Comment

Yeah your right, I didnt' notice the date, but I still wouldn't put him in top 100 if it was re written today. I know its unfair and all, I just dont' really like the guy.Comment

I think Damon Wayans should be a bit higher. His HBO special back in the early-mid 90's was one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life.
