I am really thinking of trading my PS2 with FF12 for a Fender Strat. Does that sound like an even trade, plus I've never played guitar but have ALWAYS wanted to learn. Opinions are welcome.

Tough choice. If you are talking with a friend about a trade, see if you can do a month or two "trial period" trade to see if guitar is your thing. I know a ton of people who have bought guitars but didn't stick to playing for very long(myself included). Guitar really isn't for everybody, if you are worried about not having a PS2 then be careful before you make the deal.
That being said, a fender strat in good condition is worth more than a PS2 and one game are right now. But keep in mind that you will need to buy an amp of some kind if you do get the strat. -

I'd try and find a used guitar with good frets and sound, nothing too exspensive. Guitar, like many other instruments, is a challenge to learn and study.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

Well it's a Fender Strat, he says it has grooves in the frets? Whatever that means. But I mean all I'd be giving up is a PS2 with ff12, i was looking and most fenders run about 350+, plus he said he just put new strings on it.Comment

The thing is, when you get the guitar you will love it for at least a month, play it everyday. The first week or so will suck because your fingers will hurt too much to play for that long while you are still building up calluses on your fingertips. Everybody is excited immediately, but there is no telling how long you will stick with it.
In terms of monetary value, the trade is good, plus you have a 360 so losing the PS2 doesn't seem like that big of a deal(assuming you are done playing FF12).Comment

Hell, if you already have a 360, then I say go for it.
Don't like it, then sell it to somebody.
The guitar will get you more than the PS2 will.Comment

The guitar is a lifetime friend. The PS2 is not.
Plus you're learning a new art form by learning guitar. You're twitching your fingers and staring into a TV playing video games, hardly an art form.

So I did it, I got 50.00 plus the Fender Strat, plus a case for a slimline ps2 with ff12. I'm happy, the guitar is in GREAT shape.Comment
