Otis Redding's cover was better than the original. =)

Such a great, fantastic, wonderful song. Never EVER gets old. You should check out the Patti LaBelle cover of it... just amazing.

One of the greatest songs of any era. Sam Cooke nailed it completely. I have to wonder if he lived longer would he have gone down a more gospel route like Al Green. We all know Sam came from a gospel background and knowing the turbulence of the late 60s I think Sam could've given the world some serious meditation on the craziness of it all.

Otis' version is nice but Sam's has a power and grace to it that can't be matched.

and while we were speaking on Otis Redding...i know he may have had some better songs but Ive Got Dreams To Remember is probably my favorite, seeing him brought up made me go digging to it

I agree on the Sam Cooke version. I like Leela James' rendition as well.

I don't know about anyone else but from my experience, this song has been a staple of funerals - usually played while a bio video or slide reel is shown. So it always makes me reminisce about fallen friends and family.
