That was their biggest mistake. No way the Black Album should be on there. Also, The Chronic was way too low on the list.

Apparently the author really liked 99 problems. The Chronic is top 5 easily, especially from a production value standpoint.

The order might be out of wack, but I must say it was an impressive list overall minus the Black Album.

I personally have a lot of disagreements, but I commend the list. It's a lot to think about when putting these type of lists together. And they did get a good amount of quality albums listed in both parts.

Guess your right. Ice Cube probably could have been on there for his first three solo albums.

Yeah I was surprised at some of the mentions on there, glad they got Pharcyde. I was even more surprised and disappointed with the absence of Pac though, so I disagree with the list as a whole.

The only beefs I had with the list was Illmatic and The Chronic being too low on the list and the inlcusion of The Black Album. I think Jay Z had three better albums than The Black Album (Reasonable Doubt, The Blueprint, and Vol 2: Hard Knock Life).

Definitely. Reasonable Doubt is better than the Black Album in every way.

Any rap list that doesn't have N.W.A's Str8 outta' compton or Dr. Dre's the Chronic at #1 is a joke IMO. And not including 2PAC Me against the World in the top 10 is enough to call it full blown blasphemy. And no Public Enemy in the top 5 is enough to cause me to blow my top!! Stick to games IGN!

I'm finding it hard to believe that Run D.M.C.s' King of Rock didn't make the top 25 or honorable mention. Overall a decent list.

So they seriously think that Queen Latifah and Geto Boys put out better albums than 36 Chambers, Ready to Die and Illmatic? Right......

Also, if I was picking a Gang Starr album to be #1, Step In The Arena would be the 4th one I'd pick.

Illmatic at #11? I'd make an argument that all 9 songs are in the top 50 rap songs of all time. No filler, no stupid skits, only classic songs. Not just that, but every song on that album can be listened to in any mood. 11? Behind Queen Latifah? Easily a top 5 album.

And leaving out Only Built 4 Cuban Linx and Liquid Swords. Shame on an IGN.

It is only a top 25 list. Some things are bound to be left off.

I think the top 25 they chose were all really good deserving albums. Sure they left out some classics, but dont look at this as just a top 25 of all time, but rather these are all albums that you should listen to becuase they changed rap for the better. Did 2 pac do anything that was ground breaking? Not really, and I love him, but rappers like Kool Keith changed the rap scene when gangsta rap was all the buzz. You have guys like de la and tribe that took rap to levels we had never really seen before with lyrics that were smooth and thoughful. The Queen was doing things on the mic that no female before her was doing. So, all in all this is a great list. You can mix up the numbers and it still wouldnt really matter. Alot of people say Dr. Octagon was perhaps one of the greatest albums in the history of rap, others say Jay Z's album was. I personally wouldnt have picked Step into the Arena as #1, but it is still a great album, regardless of where it is on the list.

2Pac did do something that was groundbreaking in that he was the 1st rapper who infused intelligent and thoughtful social lyrics into his songs, although one could argue Public Enemy was the true pioneer. However Public Enemy mostly did social commentary in their lyrics whereas 2Pac did more than that, offering insight into not only social issues but social commentary from a perspective of one person, their world and how it affects them. In other words, Public Enemy commented from a broad social sense but 2Pac was really the first to put a complete gamut of emotions from the viewpoint of one single person living it. I think that's pretty groundbreaking.
