    Microsoft Gaming Router Question?

Aside from the $100 price tag, does anyone know if a mirror in your home will interfere with the reception of the device?

I am not one for playing on-line but some games may be coming down the pike. Also, Baseball leagues are right around the corner.

Here is my situation, my 360 is upstairs in my bedroom and is roughly 45 paces from my computer downstairs. I do have a high speed internet connection. I have pondered what to do? Should I buy ether-net cable ( probally a bundle-but it's cheaper ) and struggle to run it through my wall ( along with the t.v. cable ) downstairs to the basement below the living room, and then up through the living room into the dining room where my computer is. Then connect it to the port in the back of my wireless modem. This sort of takes up the only slot in case somebody else needs to use it.

I was thinking of picking up a NetGear Range Max 802.11 wireless router so there will be other's that can tap into the system. Such as my brother with his game system upstairs in his bedroom. I will wait for your answers you guys always help me out.

If you want the best speed i'd run the cable as it will always be much better than wireless. A netgear wireless router can be had for about $40 at CC. The one problem I've had with netgear on the 360 is a strict NAT but others have told me of a workaround i'm going to try. The router I was looking at getting is the D-LINK WSG-4300 for about $100. I do know I'd probably avoid that Wireless-N technology for now, I hear it's a big hassle.

I would like to thank you for your quick response, and opinion. If I then go with the ether-net cable all through my walls to plug into my modem. I will be taking the one and only available slot in the back of the device. If my brother wants to connect to the internet( from his bedroom ) to play his PS3. How will he be able to connect to the modem downstairs if I am using the only port? I would have to quit playing me game and disconnect my cable for him to boot up his. They do not sell an adapter that goes into the back of the modem so you can connect two hard lines at once? Like when you have a telephone connection they sell an 2 in one connection kit for that.

Yeah the current setup would not work if you and your brother were both playing at the same time. Unfortunately no to your last question, they do not sell anything like that splitter. However you can always try a cheap router with 4 ports to go around that. I know CompUSA has a router this week on sale that is like $2 after a $20 rebate or whatnot. Check out their site for their ad as it's in the ad this week. Not sure how good (or bad) it is but if it sucks you could always take it back. You can also check out www.newegg.com for routers and they have feedback on there from users as well. Before buying any router you may want to check out the Microsoft compatibility list.

Also for your cable, if you do decide to go that route, the current official, unofficial place to buy cables is www.monoprice.com
