Re: charter cable
I'm sorry to hear that you have to be subjected to Charter Cable. We have had soooo many problems dealing with Charter through the years, but since they're the only choice in town, we still use their internet service. We were just bumped up to the 5 mb service a few weeks ago from 3mb. On the online speed test sites, I'm showing exactly 3.00 mb. Now, I am located at the end of the line here, so I have always had less than the normal speed. On 3mb I would usually downloaded right at 2mb. So it's a little faster, and depending where you are you may actually get that 5mb.
Edit: I'm uploading right at about 240kb, so I'm probably going to call Charter to make sure they provisioned my modem correctly.
Edit 2: I have a buddy with the 10mb service, he usually downloads at 7mb, but he does get 1mb upload speed.Last edited by Birdsonbat; 01-30-2007, 04:53 PM.Comment

Re: charter cable
Sorry about having to choose Charter lol
From the two weeks I spent as a cable rep, they told me that if you're just surfing the internet and doing basic internet stuff, then just go with the 5 meg because you don't notice enough of a difference while loading web pages to make it worthwhile. However, if you do A LOT of online gaming, uploading, downloading, and/or home networking go with the 10 meg.Co-Commish of the OS Vets I & II
