      Re: DVD Collections

I have over 400 dvd's. My best advice is get them through Blockbuster (assuming you will be able to check the discs until you find a mint one), dvdtalk (great exchange forum) and ebay (but be careful of bootlegs). For your 2-discs SE, older movies, and really expensive titles, I 100% suggest Columbia House. With the right codes, you can fulfill an account at around $7.50 per title (less than the $20 per movie the expensive ones are).

But most importantly, when you watch a dvd you own or go through a collection, make sure you objectively ask yourself if you would watch it again. If not, then get rid of it. And also be careful of buying a lot of tv sets as it is hard to go through those again (most of the time).

I've been buying almost all my dvd's on ebay. I've gotten some good deals and I know what to look for when it comes to bootlegs. I average paying about 7-10 dollars per dvd.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

I usually buy my tv show dvd at best buy, target and circuit city.

For my movies I hit up local places like Newbury Comics and Strawberries for some used dvd's. Strawberries once in a while have buy 3 used get one free.

Yeah, Ebay is great for new releases. If you time it right (usually about 3-4 weeks after release date), you can get them for about $8 shipped or so.

Man I've been going to the dvd aficionado forums recently and those people are hardcore about dvd's.

I have over 450 movies and like 25 tv seasons, I just watch the great deals Circuit City has or Hollywood Video when they put their newer movies on sale.
