    widescreen monitors / Internet browsing

been flirting with the idea of using my westinghouse 27in lcd as a 3 in 1 device and getting rid of my 15 in monitor. a few questions:

-i hooked it up breifly today to get a feel and see if it'll work, which it does, but even at the 720 recommended setting it seemed every website i visited was not widescreen? aren't the big sites widescreen now, or is internet viewing still best at standard def? or do i have to reset the browser or somthing(using firefox)?

My laptop is widescreen and most sites I've found do not utilize the extra screen space. It's not really an annoyance or anything...just a lot of empty space on the right side of my screen.

It all depends on how the website is written. Most websites are written for 1024x768 or 1280x1024, usually anything other than that will have a lot of space, unless they write it to take up the space your browser has available.

Re: widescreen monitors / Internet browsing

I have two 19" LCDs side-by-side. I thought about widescreen but I think this is a much better use of space. I got them for somethink like $179 each (Viewsonic) and I love it. It annoys me to go to work everyday where I only have one monitor. I feel like I can do so much more/get more done with 2. For instance, on one screen I have OOTP open with IM and another screen I have internet (FF). I can slide stuff from screen to screen if I want to re-arrange it too.

Just a suggestion if you're not set on the widescreen yet.
