    I'm Done With Blockbuster

My state tax refund came today and I immediately reduced my circuity city balance to 0. I went to wal-mart and purchased my play & charge kit. Then, i went over to blockbuster to rent r6: vegas while i wait on my gamefly rental of gears of war to arrive. I get to the counter and the guy tells me that the only way to rent 360 is if you have a major credit card. I only have best buy & circuit city cards so i was out. Says that since the games are so expensive alot of people rent them and never return them so you can only rent them with a major credit card.

That just chaps me for some reason!

You can't blame Blockbuster on that one. You should be blaming your fellow citizens for ruining it for you by renting the games and never returning them. Blockbuster did the only thing they can IMO.

I don't blame 'em but there should be another way. I mean, they should be able to look at a customer's history and then make a judgement call or something. Ah well!

They don't charge you anything unless you fail to return a 360, PS3, or Wii game. Do you have a friend with a CC willing to put it on your account? And if you ever end up keeping a game.. you can pay them the money you owe. But I'm sure you're not the type of person to do that anyway, which in that case, nothing will be charged on the card ever.

So they do it at all blockbusters?

yep, they just keep it on file. They put a $1 charge on there and then take it off later that day.

Correct. Also, even with a credit card number linked to your account, you can only rent one next-gen game at once. I don't necessarily agree with it, but it does make sense considering the problems they've had with stolen games.

So, what happens to the people that don't return the games?

I'm guessing they'd get charged for the games...

but I don't see why they wouldn't just buy them from a store, instead.

They have the pay the remainder of the price for the game. So say they rented a game for 10 bucks and the game normally retails at 60 bucks then all they have to do is pay 50.

You should just get a debit card from you bank. Most banks use either Mastercard or Visa.

I never gave Blockbuster my CC info. IF you give them a year's worth of gas bills, they accept that as well. Or did a few years ago.

I think Hollywood Video still does that... not sure about Blockbuster.
