Rolling Stone: Top 20 New Guitar Gods

    John Mayer
    Derek Trucks
John Frusciante - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Luther Dickinson - North Mississippi Allstars
    Nels Cline - Wilco
Warren Haynes - Allman Brothers Band, Gov't Mule
Jim James & Cark Broemel - My Morning Jacket
    Adam Jones - Tool
    Kaki King
Mike McCready & Stone Gossard - Pearl Jam
Tom Morello - Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave
    Ed O'Brien & Jonny Greenwoos - Radiohead
    Omar Rodriguez-Lopex - Mars Volta
Matt Pike - Sleep, High On Fire
Jack White - White Stripes, Raconteurs
Chuck Garvey & Al Schnier - Moe

Here's a nice interview with Mayer, Derek Trucks, and Frusciante. Link

Personally, about half of this list looks like it could be ten years old.

Someone should stab the editor in the face... Mayer and WHITE belong nowhere NEAR that list. Some of the others I'm not sure of, but haven't heard enough to judge them.

They put Mayer there because he was pop and is finally doing his blues. He is a damn find guitarist, don't get me wrong. But he is no guitar god. You want a young blues guitarist other than Trucks that blows him away? Joe Bonamassa makes him look like a guitar noob.

Here is the link to Bonamassa's Profile on Myspace... Give him a listen sometime if you enjoy blues and blues-rock fusion. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...endid=81330113

He actually has a live video of 'If Heartaches Were Nickels' on there, which is a song he wrote with Warren Haynes.

I think Mayer is an excellent guitar player. If you've ever seen him live you would probably agree. I think Ryan Adams should also be on that list.
