What Does DirecTV offer in the way of HD?

For my birthday my wife got me a HD-DVR receiver, which unfortunately won't be installed until March 30, but c'est la vie on that. So what can I expect in way of HD programming? I already known I can't get locals in HD (I hate Comca$t), so what do they offer?

Right now in HD they have:

CBS, FOX, NBC, ABC, (certain places have CW or the myNet in HD)
ESPN and ESPN2
Discovery
HBO
Showtime
TNT
HDNET
HDNET Movies
Universal HD

They also have Channel 95 which carries certain sports games in HD. Sometimes it will carry NFL Network, NBATV, or local games on FSN or other RSN's.

I believe they are also adding around 30 more HD channels by the end of the year including USA, TBS, NFL Network, FX, CNN, and I believe some of the FSN or RSN channels.

Ya! They have announced what will be the largest HD selection by years end...those back to the future commercials are on almost as much as John Mellencamps one was.

I've heard over a 100 HD channels by years end! They are adding (I believe) the VOOM HD channels as well (which Dish has).

That being said, I just ditched Dish Network which had 30+ but no HD locals, which was the deal killer. My wife and I are happy with a dozen or so, as long as we can watch our sitcoms and I can watch my sports.

Some places don't have local HDs. My area, New Orleans, is supposed to get them soon, but no official word. When they do I will leave Cox Cable for good.

I have Dish HD and we have HD locals.

I guess it depends on your area.

Well everybody have difference opinions about TV providers, but I will say one thing I love directv. I have had no problems and the customer service is great at least for me.
