i'm sure you could probably still request XP without any issue, now a year from now I doubt that will be the case..Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Where do all the Windows XP Laptops go?
Ha. Well today I bought a laptop after years of needing a new computer. It's so nice to be able to multitask without the damn thing slowing to a crawl. Anyways, I was in the same boat as you. I didn't want Vista on my system but pretty much every comp I looked at had i preinstalled. I could've had one ordered with XP but that was too much work for me. I bit the bullet and got a Vista laptop. I've been playing with it all day and so far I really enjoy the changes. It's not the "devil" that many computer nerds will make you think. However, I wouldn't reccomend making the leap unless you already plan on getting a new computer. No need to buy the OS independently.
I'm a classic view only kind of guy, but I love this effect lol.

Re: Where do all the Windows XP Laptops go?
My problem with Vista is the amount of weird things that wont work with it, I tried downloading Real Player yesterday only to watch my system crash the moment it was finished and installed, wouldnt open the program at all, had to go into safe mode and get rid of that. What took the cake though was when I plugged in a thumb drive only to find out that it wont work either, works perfectly fine on my desktop running XP but not on my laptop running Vista, there are some weird bugs associated with Vista at this point.Comment

I'm sure there's a ton of bugs but I personally haven't encountered any problems yet. I've installed a ton of stuff including real player.Comment

Wow, I tried installing it twice with the same problems each time, is it possible that it could effect me and not someone else then? I was shocked when it didnt work but after the fiasco with the thumb drive I wasnt blown away.Comment

Re: Where do all the Windows XP Laptops go?
Reports from many sources indicate that Vista, in its current state, is HORRIBLE for gaming. So if you're into PC gaming, I would steer clear of Vista for a while until it's patched and until hardware manufacturers get their cards, etc., up to speed with the huge RAM requirements of Vista.
I'm an avid PC sim racer, and I'm glad I still have an XP machine.
Take care,

I don't think it's worth upgrading to Vista though. I certainly wouldn't have bought it if I didn't get it for free as part of my jobs MSDN collection.Comment
