Re: Anybody else hear on the news...
One time when I was about 14 or 15 my friend Eric and I were playing Nintendo and he had the NES Advantage joystick which was like a $50 arcade like joystick, if any of you old timers recall. Well anyways, we were playing NES and he got mad during a game of Metroid and pounded the joystick until it broke.
Well I had a friend that worked at the service desk department of a major retailer, like Walmart, called Hills Dept. Store and I told him about how lax their return policies were. So he opened the insides of the joystick up, took out all the broken parts and we were going to put it back together but it seemed too light with the chips and all removed.
So we went outside and got some rocks and put them in there and super glued them to the plastic. Then we got some pieces of tissue and placed them below the buttons so you could push down on the buttons but they wouldn't snap back up. Then Eric returned it to Hills and just said the buttons wouldn't spring back and he just wanted another one. The woman pushed down on the buttons and agreed, had him fill out a form, and 5 minutes later Eric was walking out with a new NES Advantage.
Oh and of course he used a made up name as back in those days they did not check ID on returns like they do now.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20
