I've got no problem criticizing Butch's work. Southgang was borderline laughable and is only good for the cheese appeal and his most recent release The Rise & Fall... fell well short of my expectations.

That being said, I didn't say that ToTD wasn't good. It is quite good, actually. Nowhere near the amount of praise and critical acclaim it has amassed, however.

I second that. I'd take Superunknown or almost any PJ album over Temple of the Dog, along with countless other early 90s albums. It is a good CD, but I don't think it is a classic.

The whole Temple of the Dog thing maybe more possible than we think.

I heard on the radio that there are rumors that Eddie Vedder was going to join with the rest of The Doors(I think it was The Doors, either them or The Who, I can't remember) for some sort of reunion tour. If that's true, it would leave the rest of the band to tour with Cornell as TotD.

I don't think it'll happen. That Vedder thing was just a rumor I heard on the radio, and I haven't read it anywhere else, so I don't put much thought into it. Plus, with Cornell releasing a solo album soon, you'd think he'd wanna tour for that album rather than a reunion tour for an album that was released 16 years ago.

I still hope it happens though. Listened to TotD last night, still great

You can't have Temple of the Dog without Hunger Strike and you can't have Hunger Strike without Eddie.

It was their second album that was kinda disappointing to me. I really hope that Cornell does continue to release music as the man is very talented.

                  Audioslave No More?
Chris Cornell exits band, prepares new solo album.

Chris Cornell, frontman for Audioslave, the group that arose from the ashes of both Soundgarden and Rage Against The Machine, has announced his departure.

Cornell has stated publicly, "Due to irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences, I am permanently leaving the band Audioslave. I wish the other three members nothing but the best in all of their future endeavors."

Just because Cornell is leaving Audioslave doesn't mean that he's giving up music. Not by a long-shot. In fact, on May 1st, 2007, Cornell will release his second solo effort, Carry On. Cornell's debut solo disc, Euphoria Morning, was released back in 1999 and his most recent solo work included the "You Know My Name," the theme song to Casino Royale.

For the 14 track Carry On Cornell enlisted the services of legendary producer Steve Lillywhite. Titles of some of the songs include "Safe and Sound," "Scar On The Sky," "Finally Forever," "Disappearing Act," "Ghost," "Arms Around Your Love" and "She'll Never Be Your Man," "Killing Birds," "Silence the Voices," "No Such Thing," "Poison Eye," "Your Soul Today," plus Cornell's interpretation of the Michael Jackson classic "Billie Jean." The album will also include "You Know My Name."

As for where Cornell was coming from in terms of his lyrical inspiration? He has this to say: "The most exciting thing is to let yourself expose your true, vulnerable feelings, which is what resonates with people most."

His cover of Billie Jean is superb. I wish his cover of Led Zeppelin's "Thank You" was going to be on there though.

Glad to see them go. The first CD was pretty good but for the most part did not live up to my expectations. Was a much bigger fan of Rage and Soundgarden.

Come on people....they weren't a BAD band. Compared to the other crap that gets played on mainstream radio, I think they were one of the better popular bands out there the past few years. Sure, they never lived up to the hype of any of the members involved, but they made good radio-rock music. I'd take another Audioslave album over another, say, Red Hot Chili Peppers album if both bands were going to continue on their same paths.

I would definitely have to disagree with that. The RHCP album is one my top five favorite albums of all time. The last audioslave album I found pretty brutal, but everyone has their own opinions.

The first Audioslave album sucked, pure and simple. It was simply taking RATM's instrumentals and adding Cornell's vocals and lyrics. At least their other two albums sounded like a band that was starting to fuse together rather than just thrown together.
