 You can do that under the Rules of Civil Procedure as well, just a little harder to get. Sadly though, he probably does have a case on the merits to argue that an internet/pornography addiction should be treated the same as a drug or alcohol addiction. There is surprisingly very little guidance from the common law when it comes to the internet and stuff like this.
