    CD comes out April 17th.

Came across her newest single 'girlfriend' last night. Its definatly catchy, but also a different style.

Blah. Lavigne's good material stems like songs "Tomorrow" (which is her best song, in my opinion), "I'm With You", "Naked", "Nobody's Home", "Slipped Away", etc. Songs like that.. are... eh.

Anyone know if Raine Maida wrote any of this album like the last one? That would be an instant sale for me.

Can't wait for The Best Damn Thing, her work with Butch is pop music heaven.

It's a damn shame they are going with this piece of crap as the lead single though. The stuff Dr. Luke has produced in the past has been good at times, but this is just annoying.

I don't believe he did. I know she worked with her husband, Butch, Rob Cavallo and Dr. Luke, but I haven't heard Raine's name mentioned.

It's not that surprising, though. I mean from Let Go we got "Complicated" and "Sk8er Boi" (one of the worst songs I've ever heard) as singles. It's what sells sadly, we both know that by now.

It's true. Granted, I didn't think "Complicated" was a bad single, it's still catchy as hell. But it's so damn frustrating that this crap is following such non-poppy singles like "My Happy Ending," "Take Me Away," "Nobody's Home" and "Fall To Pieces." I was really hoping she was straying away from that happy/teenybopper vibe she gave off with "Sk8er Boi." If she had worked with Derkyck and Butch on the entire CD instead of bringing in a pop producer like Dr. Luke, she could have put forth an incredible pop-rock CD... Instead, there's going to be crap like this. Super.

I hate Girlfriend but I'm still looking foward to the new album. I really enjoyed Under My Skin so I'm hoping the new album is just as good.

She recently held a private concert for about 200 fan club members in Calgary where she played 3 songs from The Best Damm Thing.

Avril said her new album isn't going to be as dark and will be more upbeat and have a pop/punk vibe. I'm afraid almost all the songs will be like Girlfriend or Sk8er Boi.

I still remember Avril when she wasn't famous and held a free concert downtown here.

This would actually be the entertainment and technology forum...what would be your point?

I have no expecations for this album, and don't plan on buying it. May listen to a few of the songs that get better reviews from people here...but not much more.

I remember that comment, but it all comes down to who produces and writes the most tracks on the album. With the Butch and Deryck tracks, there is nothing to worry about. Both can craft a pop song, Butch especially, like nobody's business. Rob Cavallo, as well, has a pretty decent track record of putting out nice rock-tinged pop songs. This Dr. Luke guy is the wildcard, however. According to his Wikipedia page, he had his hands in at least seven of the songs on the CD. Not good. Hell, even the version of "Keep Holding On" -- which was perfectly fine from Eragon -- is being redone by this guy for the album. If the rest of his work is anything like "Girlfriend" this album is going to be a total letdown. This guy has worked with Clarkson, Daughtry, Pink and Bo Bice... Where's that side of him in "Girlfriend"?
