I want it, but I'm sure in won't have Comcast Philly -- which is what I watch most of the time.
My friend said it took about 3 hours or so, they had to install a UPS to the building. That was probably just because he was the first guy to sign up there though I imagine.

A Fios salesperson visited our house a few months ago. They could not beat the price I am getting with Cablevision (I have the io silver, cable internet and cable phone service). I think I am paying about $130 too, but the Fios TV for $99 did not have some channels I want and would be extra $. And that $99 offer is for a limited time.

I am so jealous. I wish this was available in my state.

The technology could allow for more information to travel along a fiber network, sure... but until they match the programming and take a serious run at adding on demand content (Comcast has 5-7 times more), you're not really seeing the benefits of FiOS. Now on the Internet side of things, you could get higher speeds as a result, although Comcast went up to 16/1 in my town to compete since Verizon has built out fiber to the premise here. The price is tempting, but make sure you understand the channels you could lose, especially in regards to hi def content which is what matters most to me.

Re: Anyone here know about Verizon FiOS?

Well about a month ago I was having problems with my internet and Comcast said they'd upgrade my service to 8mbps for no additional charge, since I am a premier subscriber to HBO, Starz, Showtime, etc. Well a month and 20 phone calls, hours on hold, hours chatting with support people, a different answer depending upon how the stars align and one trip to Comcast HQ I think it's about time for me to consider moving over to Verizon FIOS.

Does anyone here now have FIOS TV and like it ok, especially if compared to Comcast? It seems everyone who has the internet on it just loves it but the TV aspect is questionable.

Oh and here is what I pay: $171 for one DVR, one cable box, HBO, Showtime, Starz, internet (6mbps obviously LOL) and then an additional $29 to an internet phone provider, for a total of $200 a month. And from what I see I could get all that from Verizon for roughly $150-$160 AND have a faster internet to boot. The only real thing that scares me is the installation stories i've heard and having to change out routers and all that.

Speaking of which, anyone here that has FIOS - any problems with your Xbox Live? I have nightmare stories of the NAT not being OPEN on my router and finally after months have got it right. I don't want to get into that insanity again if I can help it..
