Re: what are basic audio/video recievers

Uh, if you're just asking what a receiver is......

A receiver is a device that allows you to hook up several multi-media devices to an independent sound system (ei: surround sound).

In my apartment I have my cable box, Xbox360 and N64 (MarioKart baby!) all hooked up to my receiver, which is played through my large floor speakers instead of the regular speakers on my TV.

I bought a basic Sony floor model receiver from Circuit City for $120, I believe it retailed at $190 or $200.
