Scorsese series coming to HBO?

Found this today in the NY Post, and didn't see it posted...

Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese and Mark Wahlberg are teaming up again for a new HBO drama about Atlantic City.

The show will be based on Nelson Johnson's book "Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times, and Corruption of Atlantic City", according to The Hollywood Reporter. Wahlberg and Scorcese are not expected to appear in the series, but will share executive producer credits.

Johnson's 2002 book traces Atlantic City from its birth as a quiet seaside health resort, through the notorious backroom politics and power struggles, to the city's rebirth as an international entertainment and gambling mecca, according to its publisher.

Sounds good to me. All my favorite HBO series are coming to an end (Rome, Deadwood, Sopranos) so it'll be nice for some new stuff. Between this, and the rumored A Song of Ice and Fire series, I'm pretty excited.

appears we wont have to wait that long for a replacement to the sopranos. hopefully we dont have to wait 8 years between seasons like we do for the sopranos.

If this series comes to fruition I will have to subscribe. Nobody does organized crime like Scorsese.

And don't forget Whalberg also produces Entourage which is a damn good series on HBO so this one should be good.

Everything these days is about the mob, gambling, corruption, etc. But, it sells.

This could very well be the reason I keep HBO after the Sopranos is over. I like Curb and Entourage but not enough to justify the monthly price.

Nope. I watched the first couple of seasons and just never got into it.
