10 Years already/Miss Ya B.I.G.
I can't belive it's been ten years since one of the greatest rappers of all time died. I remeber being in High school when i heard the news that Big Poppa was shot down. Hip Hop over the last few years has been getting worse as each year passes. I grew up just listening to rap and I have seen in its prime and go down the tubes latley. If Big and Pac were still alive they would be in there mid 30's ( still younger then dre) and would be rockin the Mic with rappers who became popular after their deaths. Another reason why you can't say Biggie wasn't a good rapper is b/c he died to young. He would of probaly had another 5 albums out if he was still alive. Like Canibus said the greatest rapper of all-time died on march 9th.Gametag JetsfanSINY79Tags: None -

As stated, his death was a tragedy. R.I.P.I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil. - Malcolm X -
Re: 10 Years already/Miss Ya B.I.G.
One of the greatest rappers of all time? Very debatable. Having one outstanding album does not put you in this category. "Ready to Die" was a hip hop classic. However, I do feel that "Life After Death" was highly overrated. It's ashame he died so young because he could have been in this category, if he would have made at least one more slamming album. BUT one classic album and one so-so album does not do it for me.

QFT.
But yeah it would have been interesting to see how it all would have turned out had he or Pac lived.PS: You guys are great.

I like both Pac and Biggie, and they were commemorating Biggie with many of his classics at the strip joint I went out to last night. But who needs Biggie's classics when you got Throw SOME D"s on that bi... playing. haha that's the hiphop today

Re: 10 Years already/Miss Ya B.I.G.
For Biggie and Mr. Shakur, both of who have been coined by many as the greatest rappers of all time, I would just follow up by saying that they would rank higher in the most influential rappers of all time as opposed to greatest rappers of all time.
Some people mistakenly label "most influential" with "greatest." Those have to be two different things IMO.Favorite Teams:
NBA: Houston Rockets
NFL: Tennessee Titans
MLB: Chicago White Sox
NCAA: Florida State Seminoles

Most influential and most greatest...I think both of those tags go out in honor of Pac and Big.Comment

Re: 10 Years already/Miss Ya B.I.G.
rest in peace Biggie
There are mnay that to this day still can not fill his shoes.
every attempt really pales in comparison. his voice was amazing just amazing and his flow was just his.
he didn't need to have classic albums you just needed to hear his voice to say that he was one of the bestBrand New Tomba Slider sets ready for Next Gen Versions of NBA,Madden and Fifa Stay Tuned...Comment

Re: 10 Years already/Miss Ya B.I.G.
What sort of influence did these two have? To work hard, stay in school, treat women with respect? I can't remember if B.I.G. was one of the dudes that had a positive message, just entertained, or was a bane to society.Comment

I still like Biggie over Tupac, anyway.

Re: 10 Years already/Miss Ya B.I.G.
I guess it's a generational thing... When I was coming up, the best emcee was Rakim... Hip hop was just getting to the point where it was reaching "mainstream" status in the consciousness of the general public. Big came along at the right time, because he was getting equal play in the hood and in the burbs. I admired his skill, but I was never enamored with him. Even today, most of the rap I have on my phone/MP3 player is stuff from the late 80s and very early 90s.Comment
