FTP File Transfer to Website (am I out of luck?)

I'm putting the finishing touches on a website for my Video Production class. I'll keep this short but:

I am having a hell of a time trying to upload video files. These files range in size from 500MB to just over 1GB. I am being told, by the host, that I cannot upload files larger than 1GB but even the smaller ones I'm getting errors with WS_FTP and it's taking like 8 hours for one video. The files are AVI format made from Adobe Premiere Pro. I really do not want to cut the video up into sections for uploading because it becomes way too much work for the students (we don't have the time) and I don't think we'd get as many people viewing the programs if they are chopped up.

Is this a wash? If not, what am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help. God bless!

Those are huge files. Are you sure you have enough webspace?

Yeah that would be my first question. If so there is an upload limit (though I have uploaded several hundred MB myself), but for the "smaller files", how big are they and what is the average speed your getting upload wise?

Personally I would advise just to download leapftp (I think leapware.com) just because it's an awesome program.
