I just purchased a new computer which is shipped today and will be here Monday or Tuesday probably so I am leaving my old computer here with my parrents when I move out with some friends early next month. Before I leave I want to restore it to as close to "Out of the box" as possible I have used this computer for 5 years and have installed/uninstalled so much crap that its getting pretty slow these days, so I want to clear everything for them so that its like new to them. I have a Dell Dimension 4500S with "Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2" so I hope that helps. Will just a system restore do the trick? Also, we have internet on this what information should I write down (if any) from Outlook and any other programs dealing with the internet so it will be ready to run the internet once everything is done?

boot it off of your restore cd and choose to format the drive. Then just run the windows update.Comment

thanks...ill let you know how it goes once my neighbor gets home...it ended up shipping yesterday after they said the 19th and it was delivered today (but for some reason since nobody was here they took it to the neighbor and just left me a note) so once i get it set up im gonna go ahead and restore this oneComment
