Re: SXSW
too many to name
but a few performances stuck out, like the Mother Truckers, Sherman, Cold War kids, the former guitarist of Rage against the machine on stage with Perry Ferrell from Jane's addiction and with Slash from GNR, the Weary Boys...Last edited by ZB9; 03-18-2007, 11:57 PM.Comment

Re: SXSW
i'd love to have the chance to go to this at some point. The only bad thing is that it usually consists of bands who haven't broken out yet, if you could see every band you would certainly see at least a few soon to be big-name indie bands, but there is no way of telling which bands are going to be great. Most of them are pretty unknown coming in.Comment

i hadnt done the SXSW thing so much since i was quite a bit younger, but i live in the middle of everything so i figured i go all out and see a crapload of shows this year because i didnt have to drive anywhere. im glad i did because it was quite a bit of fun.
there were a crapload of good concerts. Although, in Austin there are a crapload of good concerts every night, and on a normal week there will probably be more known, noticeable names and more successful bands coming through town than there is in SXSW. I agree with you about the unknown indie thing and not being able to notice the names of a lot of bands, but thats the best part of the festival to a lot of people (not me though). I dont really like the "showcase" type of thing either, but that is a way of keeping it somewhat organized.Last edited by ZB9; 03-19-2007, 08:21 PM.Comment
