I have a 26 inch HD sammy...it's 1368 res etc though. Higher than this model.

I have a Samsung 46" DLP and have to say that all the PS3 games look amazing (aswell as HD channels) I have the PS3 set at 1080i

720p is HD, 480p isn't.

Yes, your TV will be able to play 1080i content, but it won't be at 1080i, it'll be at 720p. The internal scaler for your TV will downscale 1080i content to 720p, and will upconvert 480p/i content to 720p. Some TV internal scalers aren't that good, so it might be wise to invest in an upconverting DVD player if you want to view content in pseudo-HD.

I have a Sammy 50" DLP 1080p, I really like what the Sammy has to offer. Well worth the purchase as my 360 and PS3 games look great on there + BD and HD-DVD movies are nice too.

I would wait on a Sammy DLP, they are coming out with new ones early summer that will use LED's instead of bulbs for the picture, going to be a lot nicer picture, plus a lot cheaper. I've read 42" DLP 1080p's are going be around 1K.

Plus, if he can wait for the summer the LCD's are getting a significant price drop.

Looked at an LG 50 inch plasma this morning.

Kind of fun trying to pick out a TV. My Mrs is wondering why we've looked at about 50 TV's so far though and i've changed my mind every time

Yeah, she's a nice woman my mrs.

She's a really devout Buddhist...so nothing much upsets her. Kind of nice having that calmness around

You're right re the 50 inch...she basically said that if we get 40, we're going to want 50 sooner or later.

I wouldn't mind a 60 actually...would be too big for the room I intend to put it in though.
