If you are thinking about buying a used Audi you better put money aside to repair it or lease it new. The car is notorious for being unreliable especially the electrical system and it is pricey to fix. They have a beautiful line of cars that have great interiors and are a nice ride but I've known a few people who bought one and vow never to do it again because the car was in the mechanics garage more than thier own.

From reading around, that seems to be the general consensus. I checked out a '97 Audi A4 that one of my boys' shop has in, and the exterior needs work. The engine itself didn't seem to have any problems, but when I brought up the issues regarding the clusters and the timing belt being *re-called (either way needs to be addressed depending how much mileage the car had) I came up with the conclusion I'm going to spend more money for it being in the shop as opposed to the overall price of the car. The next car on the list is '00 BMW 323 4D...my concerns is regarding the mileage on the car being north of 100, so I don't know what to expect from it??

Looks like your looking for luxury but for a price. And that is mileage. Problem is if any of those(Audi, BMW, Benz) break down your screwed. Ask around your area what some maintenance is for those cars and you will reconsider.

If you were going new it would be an entire different story.

By the way, what is the price on the 100k BMW?

                  It's 328..not 323
and in comparisons 2gs(Audi which I passed on, probably sold it after my visit) to 3.5(for 328) ~ negotiable I hope.
Not really heavy on the wallets, but I'm supposed to be getting a "hook-up".

                    3,500 isn't bad for a 2000 328. 100k or not.

If your going to buy it I would first take it to a couple mechanics and have them inspect it. Buying a car and having it break down it bad enough. Having a European luxury car break down is twice as bad. Good luck though man.
