I figured a thread for movie talk would be nice. Now, for the bigger movies, I figured they would still have their own threads, but for smaller, not as hyped movies that this might work.

For instance, I saw Premonition the other night and while the reviews were horrible ( I don't put much stock into reviews though), I didn't think it was that bad at all. I actually enjoyed it. I'm going to a sneak preview of Shooter tonight and then tomorrow I'm going to see Reign Over Me (can't wait for this one!) Saturday I might see Pride.

Well, I don't buy refreshments (sometimes a drink, but it's rare..I usually just sneak a bottle of water in) and the movie tickets are only $7.00

Just got back from seeing Shooter. It was good for what it was. A nice action flick with a sub par story. He was kind of like Rambo in this one, but I enjoyed it.

Our movie theater is re releasing "Pride And Prejudice" (2005)this Friday. Is this a limited nationwide re release? I bet everyone on this board (particularly the "300" fans) can't wait to see it.

Tix are expensive out West. When I go to the movies it's usually around 10-14 bucks a ticket. The girl I'm dating and I pay for every other show.

I want to see shooter, but it seems like a lot of other movies I've seen in the past.

My favorite movie from last year was Pan's Labrynth - a great story. I also rec. The Lives of Others.

It takes a lot to get me to a theater, too expensive and too many annoying people. I have a nice home theater I can see it comfortably on my couch 3-4 months later.

Only movies I see in theaters anymore are ones that are meant to be seen on the big screen. Movies such as Superman Returns, 300, and soon to be Spiderman 3 & Pirates 3. Others I anticipate greatly, but aren't something that are particularly 'made' for the big screen, such as Pursuit Of Happyness, i'll wait for video to see. Only the big action movies at the movie theater for me. Or, in some cases, a comedy such as Jackass 2, which is incredibly fun to see with a huge group of people in a theater.

I guess if we are recommending smaller, more unknown movies, i'll throw "Reign of Fire" out there. Great guilty pleasure movie with a pre-Batman Christian Bale and a badass Matt Mcconaughey (sp?) up against dragons. Amazing dragon effects, including one AWESOME skydiving dragon battle scene. Good popcorn movie, and probably really cheap to pick up at Best Buy or wherever you buy movies.

Anyway, I enjoyed Premonition as well... but the way it ended was just terrible. Ruined on otherwise good movie.

It all depends, probably not. I'm just not a theater person. Last movie I saw was Saw 3, only because a group went, before that was King Kong.

"Inside Moves" is a relatively obscure film from 1980, despite a Oscar nomination for actress Diane Scarwid. It's about a guy who becomes a cripple (walks with a cane)after a failed suicide attempt, his befriending of a pro basketball hopeful with a bum leg(a young David Morse)and their relationship after the ball player's successful leg operation puts him in the NBA. It is currently available only on video tape. I urge anybody with a video tape player to watch this great movie-you won't be sorry.

Ticket prices are too high, and some places don't have student discounts anymore. Drinks are especially insane ($3.75 for a 16 oz drink!?!?!?!). Annoying people on cell phones. Too many commercials (why do we have to have pre-show entertainment?).

Honestly, I think a good ending to that movie would have been having him live through the accident somehow... then die suddenly out of nowhere. It would be a great way to fool the audience into the typical "Happy Ending" so common in Hollywood today. The part with the pregnancy just felt out of place...
