If you are looking for the bet service, I would go with Verizon.

I have been on T-Mobile for six years and had no complaints, but Verizon does have better service.

Bump. I've decided to go with Verizon and am probably going to go with (for now) the Motorola Razr V3m. Anybody have any impressions on the Razr or suggestions for other phones? I'm going to go with the Vcast feature, so keep that in mind.

I had T-Mobile when I was in NY, and we wound up switching to Sprint when we got to North Carolina... I always got basic phones, but in January, I got the Sanyo M1... I'm a big fan... 1 gig of memory, so I can listen to my music as I travel throughout the office doing audits. Can't complain about Sprint's service.

Since you're getting VCast look for a phone with music controls on the front of the phone if it is a flip-phone, they come in handy. I have the Samsung SYNC which I think is Cingular-exclusive at this point, but it has those controls and they are pretty nice. I think Verizon has a similar Samsung model. The SYNC also has a 2 MP camera, most others are 1.2 or 1.3, so maybe a Verizon Samsung phone will have 2 MP(not that it is that big of a deal, but they were the same price as the RAZR's at Cingular, so you might as well get a better camera if you can for the same price).

Most importantly, talk to as many people that live as close to you as possible about service. My first provider was US Cellular and it didn't work at my house, I had to walk up the driveway to get calls. I haven't had a single problem with Cingular yet, but other people obviously have. It just depends on your location, ask some people to make sure you can use the phone you get.

that's what I have. Bought it off of ebay though. No complaints here. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but it's plenty enough for me.

At least look into the Lg VX 8600. It is very similar to the Razr style wise but is far greater in the feature dept.

I just got the Razr V3t and love it. I'd wanted one since it first came out. Need to get a cover for it this weekend as I plan to have it for awhile.

my Razr has all the bells and whistles if you're referring to the mp3 player, video capture, 1.3 megapixel capabilities.

Does anybody know how to take songs from your computer and add them as ringtones to your phone?

                            Re: Cellphone Suggestions

To get them on your phone requires some USB connection cable, almost always sold separately from the phone. Check the website to see what kind of cable is needed and how much they want for it, it usually comes with the software.

Once on your phone go into your media section and then your music and pick OPTIONS when on the song you want and one of the options should be "SET AS..." and then "RINGTONE" or something similar. Almost all phones are different in the details, but the general idea is the same.

That's the best advice IMO. Different providers are stronger/weaker in different areas of the country.

Being in the Tri-State area most vendors provide excellent service. I've had Sprint for four years and there's only one place in CT or NY that I consistently lose service and it's out in the sticks of CT so that's not a big deal.

In southern CT the general consensus is that Verizon and Sprint are the best. Nextel had poor service coverage before the merger (not sure if it improved) and Cingular was awful. I honestly don't know anybody who has T-Mobile so I'm not sure how they stack up in my area.
