Re: Good sitcoms
I can't believe no one has mentioned the most consistently hilarious show on television since Seinfeld, it's called Always Sunny in Philadelphia and comes on Thursday nights on FX (I think at 9pm). It's currently on hiatus and returns in June.
Especially you Seinfeld fans, you gotta check this show out, it's about a bunch of nothing and the storylines usually intersect. Plus it's got Danny Devito, how can you go wrong when your show has Danny Devito???Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Good sitcoms
Don't know how many of you all have watched this show, but I absolutely love it. It's on TBS at 12 ET. I hadn't even heard of it until one of the guys I work with had it on. It's a pretty good slapstick comedy.
What are some other good sitcoms that you all would recommend? I'm not big on TV, so sorry if this show is pretty big.. I'd never heard of it though.

Yeah I liked that show. The guy who played the radio station owner was the guy who burned the building down in office Space and is now playing the voice of Bill on King of the hill.Comment

Re: Good sitcoms
Wow, I'm seeing a lot of "The Class." I just can't get into that show.
For me..
Cheers
The Odd Couple
Fraser
Seinfeld
Coach
The Office
Fraser very rarely gets mentioned, but I think it's got to be one of the best shows ever.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

Re: Good sitcoms
There's simply nothing that could touch sitcoms in the 70s in America:
"All in the Family" (greatest sitcom of all time)
"Good Times"
"The Jeffersons"
"Alice"
"The Bob Newhart Show"
"Sanford and Son"
"Maude"
Now THAT was some funny sh*t, especially "All in the Family." Way funnier than the dreck on American TV today.
The only sitcoms I've seen in the last five years that have been remotely funny are "Trailer Park Boys" (Canada) and "The Office" (BBC, not NBC). Both of those were hilarious. "That 70s Show" had its moments, too.
In the 90s, "Seinfeld," "Frasier," "In Living Color" and "Married ... with Children" were excellent.
Simple rule of thumb for American sitcoms: If the show needs a canned laugh track, then it's almost a given that it's not funny at all. That rules out about 80 percent of American sitcoms the second they go on the air.
Take care,

Re: Good sitcoms
All timers for me are "The Honeymooners" and "Sanford and Son"... Recent ones that I liked a lot were the aforementioned "NewsRadio", and "The John Larroquette Show"... The latter was great; it had a dark sense of humor, but then they tried to make it all cheery and happy, and turned it to crap.
Right now, the only sitcom I watch regularly is "The Class".Comment

Re: Good sitcoms
does anyone remember a show called " Men Behaving Badly " it had Rob Schnieder, Ron Eldard and Justine Batemen in it. Rob and Ron were roomates and Justine was Ron's girlfriend. It was on like in 96 or 97 and I think only made it 1 or 2 season's before contract disputes killed the show. Once the show became a big hit, the actors wanted more money and networks basically said screwoff...what a shame that show was great trashy man comedy.
I do have to agree with the overall theme of this thread though as "NewsRadio" was truly a classic. That style of writing and comedy just never gets old.Twitch - bluengold34_osComment

Re: Good sitcoms
I know its mainly due to the reason that I grew up watching the following shows and not the quality of them, but whenever they're on I have to stop and watch:
Step by Step
Boy Meets World
Family Matters

How I Met Your Mother
Also like checking out reruns of Will and Grace in it's heydey; was pretty funny. And of course SeinfeldHBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period
