Okay here is the deal. On Friday my internet got very slow. McAfee had just had an update of some sort. They were program updates I think. Anyway I did not notice it then but when I restarted the computer after the update is when the internet started to slow down. So I used a system restore point and reset it to last tuesday, problem fixed. I have not restarted my computer until today for mcafee's update (the same one as above). Now my internet is slow after the restart. So I system restore agian and the problem is fixed again. So what is the problem fellas and what should I do?

Looks like its something with McAfee. I actually had to remove the whole McAfee suite on a PC before it would get a IP address. One thing you can try is go ahead and do the McAfee update and then (I assume its Windows XP) goto START.. RUN.. type MSCONFIG look at the STARTUP Tab and disable any of the McAfee programs just to see what happens (you can reenable by checking the box again)
Also go into task manager and see if svchost.exe is taking alot of memory, if so disable Automatic Updates and see if its faster.Last edited by e0820; 03-31-2007, 08:07 AM.
