Morning Talk Radio Shows...Yay or Nay?

I bring this up because after having my car broken into and IPOD stolen, I've had to resort to listening to the radio for my music again.

Personally...the morning talk shows that comprise 90% of the radio stations in the morning annoy me. I'd rather be able to drive to work, etc. listening to some good tunes than listen to 2-3 guys tell dumb jokes and talk about what they did over the weekend for 3-4 hours.

Just curious as to how many folks actually like these things or would rather the stations ditch the talking heads and play music.

Thoughts?

Most morning shows suck the ever loving life out of me. I don't listen to music radio but when I do I find the easy rock station EZ Rock (natch) to be pretty good. The talking heads do their thing but they have a lot of music.

As for sports morning show. Let's just say I wanna hack and slash the guys that host the morning show on the FAN 590.

I usually listen to my own music but when Air America was here in Columbus I used to listen to that. Now that they replaced it with the Republican talk shows I listen to Mike & Mike in the morning.

I listen to Mike and Mike on ESPN radio in the mornings. Before I got Sirius radio, sports talk radio was all I could listen to in the morning because I hate regular radio morning shows with all the traffic, birthdays, stupid quiz talk stuff. Music or sports is all I want to hear.

Talk radio is what gets me through my work day. I listen to our local guy when I get up until 9 and then Glenn Beck and the Heard, comes on until 11, then it's Rush on one station and Rome on the other, I flip back and forth between them as well depending on what their talking about. At 1, Dan Patrick and then at 3, the local sports talk. I listen to that until I get off at 5.

Morning talk shows are the worst. I listen to Mike and Mike or my own music. Although there is a classic rock station that just plays music in the morning I'll listen to from time to time.

I never listen to them on the commute to work but I always have ESPN Radio on in the morning and M&MD on in the afternoon at my desk. Beats working in total silence and if it's a slow day it helps spice it up. ESPN just drives me crazy with their 8-9 minute commercials. Is it really unnecessary to have that long of a break?

Sports is the only talk radio I'd listen to though, forget that FM and rock station crap.

I listen to NPR, which is usually associated with classical music or jazz, depending on location. The extent of the talking they do is brief NPR newsbreaks and occasionally an interview with someone of influence in the field.

I used to listen to ESPN radio a lot, but ultimately prefer music. I have listened to a talk show here and there, and while they occasionally had funny material, it seemed to me they were generally trying to be obnoxious, ala Howard Stern, and failing miserably.

I do like a good sports radio show when I can find one, but lately they've been few and far between. I've not looked much online though, and I suspect there are a few quality ones that stream their broadcasts over the web.

I love "Imus in the Morning." I need Imus and coffee to start my day -- it's like a drug for me.

I use to listen to Mike & Mike but when Greeny got all obsessed with Barry Bonds eveyr freaking day, I just figured that I'd get my ipod. I listen to Dan Patrick cause he's good and solid with his views. Also listen to classical music. Makes me think a lot. Love listening to some Christian stations too. Ipod takes up majority of my day with the game podcasts, ESPN podcast (Stephen A. Smith & PTI), and a few other podcast from National Geographic and such that talk about modern world situaitons.
