    Help: HDMI but no sound

I've got my Toshiba Upconverting DVD/VCR player hooked up to my new Vizio HD LCD via HDMI. Not getting any sound except when I use the traditional Red+White cables.

Any clues as to why I'm just getting the upconverted picture but no sound?

If you have a home theater you need to hook up a digital cable, either coaxial or optical depending on what inputs\outputs you have, to your receiver separately to get true digital sound which is much more preferable to the output you'll get with the red and white cables. HDMI handles digital audio but it's an all in one connection to your TV so the sound will only come out of your TV and not your home theater.

If your talking about the TV not getting sound and you don't have a home theater then look in the menus for both the TV and the DVD player as it may not be set to the proper audio option for that HDMI input connection because there's is no reason it should not work unless your HDMI cable is faulty.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah. It's a direct connection from DVD player to LCD via HDMI so I should be getting sound. I'll have to find the DVD's manual or look online.
