We all know what happened with Kirby and his wife, but is this really the time to be talking about that, when the man's body isn't even cold? Same thing with the Sean Taylor murder. Cowherd stuck to his guns with the whole "his past caught up to him" and "you can clean the carpet but there's still gonna be a stain". But you heard nothing out of him after it was determined he was the victim of a botched robbery.

People find it hard to take you seriously after that, and it's ESPN's fault. They were promoting the crap outta him a couple years ago. He was on the NFL draft, they had him on that stupid all-ESPN channel coverage of UNC-dook, and countless other shows. He's nothing more than a FM Morning Zoo type DJ who happens to do sports.
He did the same thing when Eddie Guerrero died...basically came on the show and ripped him to shreds for things he had done in the past before he turned his life around.

It was one of the most despicable things I've ever heard.

      UGH!

The FAN 590 here in Toronto had a 2 week experiment with Fox Sports' overnight programming (we lost the ESPN Radio rights because they asked for too much money for renewal) and on their overnight they air a few segments of their day/night programming. Listening to JT the Brick was like listening to the jock who thinks he knows everything and will beat you up if you think he's wrong or don't agree with him.

I swore I nearly threw my radio out the window. Thankfully, the FAN ended that experiment with FSR though I did like listening to Dan Patrick's segments.

My biggest gripe is that he acts like a condescending, pompous *** who thinks his opinion is always right, and people who disagree with him are wrong. Guys like Rome and JT the Brick may disagree with you, but they will at least let you finish your point, and not hang up on you after 5 seconds.

The other thing is that besides College and Pro Football, he doesn't know much else about other sports, but he acts like he does. When he talks baseball, he sounds like an idiot.

I am a diehard New York Giant and Yankee fan, but i am not a homer by any means, and I will be the first to call oout my team if they are playing bad. Colin thinks that fans are all homers, and can't tell the difference.

That's the same thing I hate about Tim McCarver, the biggest ego-maniac, pompous *** of them all. "Oh, I am a baseball genius because I caught Bob Gibson.." LOL.. Hey Tim, you were an average player at best. Love when he second guesses managers about every move they make. Hey Tim, if you're so smart, how come you're not a manager or coach in the big leagues?

I'm by no means defending McCarver but average at best players don't have 21 year careers and McCarver WAS a good analyst back in his CBS days. It's not like the guy doesn't know a lick about baseball. The guy knows more baseball then say, oh Steve Philips

If paired with a more professional PBP guy McCarver is pretty damn good. I loved it when he was paired with Sean McDonough (sp) when he was at CBS because they stuck to the basics and McCarver gave some very good insight.

Well, he was a starter for 9 years, and the last 7 years he was a back-up/pinch hitter. I would consider a lifetime average of .271, 97 HR's and 645 RBI's average. Plenty of average players extend their careers. EX: Julio Franco, Brad Ausmus to name a few..

He does know basball, I agree. I just don't like the fact he talks down to the fans when announcing a game. I am a big baseball fan, and I would say most people who watch it know how it's played. McCarver is very arrogant and condescending, and he always thinks his opinion is correct. When him and Joe Buck are together, I usually hit the mute button.

Vic "The Brick" Jacobs is a complete idiot and annoying. A radio station here now has him for when they go to national programming, and WTF is with him saying "Feelin' You!" all the time? Also, they have some clips of when Manny came over and Vic was saying some weird crap. I don't get how anyone likes this guy, he seems like a tool.

I hate Vic "The Brick" probably more than anyone else on sports radio.

ESPN thinks Cowherd is a major star. They offered him Dan Patrick's old time slot but he turned it down.

Cowherd is great at what he does, and that's draw interest to his show. He doesn't care whether you love him or hate him as long as you tune in to the Herd. He even likes to read the hate mail he gets from people who say they don't listen to his show yet they take the time to write to him.

Yeah I remember him on occasion saying he likes hate mail more than fan mail because the hate mail means you care more. The thing is his schtick is so transparent it's comical. I remember one year he had Grant Hill on, and he starts going on afterwards about how dook is great for college basketball, and dook represents all that is good about college sports, blahblahblah. Of course after that all my fellow Tar Heel fans lit up his phone lines. I sat there like, "you idiots!!! This is what he WANTS!!!"

All the more reason to avoid ESPN like the plague.

Colin is great. He talks about sports in the order of their tv ratings which is how it should be. Football rules now, especially the NFL so thats what he mostly talks about. He seems to be brutally honest and that offends some people but its entertaining to me.

Yah, he really does tell it how it is. I guess thats why I like listening to him so much. Take Scott Van Pelt for example. He is one of the coolest guys on ESPN and seems to be a really stand up guy, but he just isn't as entertaining as Cowherd. Cowherd is blunt enough to keep his show interesting, but not too condescending or rude (although some people seem to think he is).

And for those who say he never apologizes for some of his controversial statements. He has stated his reasoning. If you stop talking about the story it will die much sooner than if you constantly bring it up.
