My only wish would be that if Jesse Jackson is going to march on CBS for what Imus said then he needs to start marching on the record companies that consistently produce albums that say the same things and in a lot of cases far worse. When a free pass is given to them but Imus gets torn apart by the media and everyone else, its just not right. I read earlier about how rap lyrics arent directed towards a specific group of people or a specific person and that makes it alright, thats just unbelievable to hear, so if Imus had avoided using Rutgers as an example and instead made a blanket comment about women in general we wouldnt care and he would still have his job? I highly doubt that to be the case.

I wish people who say these things would actually do some research. I don't feel like getting the links for Jesse Jackson but both he and Al Sharpton have spoken out against rappers who use violent and sexist language towards women:

As far as the other thing you said about rap, rappers have said that because they aren't talking about college educated women and are talking about the groupies and other women who chase after them at shows, that it's different. You may not see it that way but it makes sense.

I think it's possible that Imus' career isn't over. He could go to satellite radio where he could basically say whatever he wanted. I don't know if his following is strong enough for him to make the move though.

Other than the old white guy part there really isn't anything wrong with what he said. Tupac said in an interview that he made songs like Keep Ya Head Up for his mother and his sisters but he had songs like I Get Around for the groupies and women who really are hoes.

Considering that you're a product of your generation and a regular listener of rap music, it doesn't surprise me at all to hear you say that.

I don't even listen to mainstream rap or any rap where people talk about women like that so what I listen to is irrelevant.

The only reason they got rid of the guy is because the sponsors were jumping ship. If they were firing him for what he said,they would have done that a long time ago.

All famous people have women who hang around them. Do you think Steve Nash would get into any trouble if he referred to his black female groupies as hoes?

I haven't heard any athlete refer to his groupies as hoes so there's no reason to speculate on that but there probably would be a backlash if he singled out only the black groupies and called them hoes. If he was referring to the groupies I wouldn't care but if he said that black women in general are hoes then that would be a big difference.
