    Re: CSI Shows

I love Las Vegas. Every character in that cast is likeable and unique. Grisson, Warrick, Nick, Catherine, Brass, Greg, all great. Sara I find to be a little bland.

Miami is really awful I think. Besides Caruso's overdramatization of every line, there is not one member of that cast that is appealing. I've probably seen about 25 Miami's and I cannot recall one character trait of any of the characters. Part of LV's lure is that they do a fantastic job with character development, which complements the actual case of each episode itself.

Never had a chance to watch NY so I can't comment on that.

I only watch Las Vegas, I've seen Miami a couple of times and it wasn't anything special. And I have no idea when New York is on.

It is funny how Miami is the #1 show in America!

CSI started in 2000, Crossing Jordan in 2001.

As for the shows, I can stand CSI and tried CSI: Miami but never got into it. I have never tried CSI: New York, no real reason why other than free time I suppose. Personally, I find the CSI Effect that has been caused by the shows as reason for them to take action and I cannot get over the idea of Forensics people engaging in criminal questioning the way they do.

It was even funnier when "Three's Company" was #1 in 78-79.

My former college roommate is a forensic investigator in Richmond. As I am sure is the case with every specialty-type show, he stated that the scientific gibberish that they spout on the CSI shows is ridiculous and impossible for him to stomach.

The result of the popularity of these shows is the number of kids going to college to study forensics, not knowing what they are really getting into.
Overall satisfaction also makes the decline!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only one of those I don't watch is CSI: NY. I love the original CSI and CSI: Miami. I'm not a fan of Caruso's acting but it makes me laugh. So there's that.
                    MLB: Cincinnati Reds
                    NFL: Cincinnati Bengals
                    NCAA Hoops: Xavier Musketeers
                    NCAA Football: Miami Hurricanes
                    NHL: Calgary Flames

Yea, you said it yourself. I'm sure every show about a specific trade is stuffed with gibberish you never hear in the real world.

I never watched "ER", but I'm sure doctors out there feel the show makes the actual profession look like a me-centralized drama.

I've seen some "Law and Order" and I can't imagine investigations really taking place as they do on that show.

Heck, even the "Office" is an exaggerated look on life in the cubicle, albeit a funny one.

Funny, though, that kids are getting into forensics expecting that it's all glitz and glamor like they see on CSI:. Forensics work is tough and most people in it likely spend a lot of time in the lab instead of running around crime scenes trying to figure out if they should have been the writer behind the Riddler.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer
