ebay fraud? Anyone know of this scheme?

I recently changed my e-mail address for most of my accounts, and today, logged in and saw 22 ebay listings for items that I don't even own. I promptly fired a message to ebay and deleted the listings, but has anyone heard of such a thing?

Most of the listings were single day auctions as well. I also changed my ebay password.

Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

This happened to me last month. Ebay noticed that someone listed about 500 auctions containing various electronic items using my ID. They cancelled all of the listings, so no harm no foul. However, I changed my password and all of my other passwords along with my e-mail password. This was the second time it had happened to me BTW. I dont really have any advice, other than what I stated above about the passwords. Hope everything works out for you.

yes, it's much easier to scam people with one day auctions when the account has some feedback to it. That's why they hijack certain accounts and list hundreds of auctions. By the time most people notice, a few days have passed, and people have been ripped off.

I've got ripped off by a person like this a few years ago. That's why it's a good idea to change your passwords every few months. Ebay is especially dangerous since the account can be linked to your bank account through paypal.

So while it's not unheard of, it has happened?

I did change my passwords to all my accounts over the last few days, from something that could be "guessed" to a much more difficult one (with numbers, etc). This was all done BEFORE the issue yesterday.

I'm curious if it somehow happened with the guy I just bought something from earlier in the week, but I have no idea how he could have traced my account info. I've also run spyware and virus scans with multiple software and nothing has come up.

One other thing that's bothered me is when I changed my password, I get the following at the bottom.

        IP Address:
        ISP Host:

Sometimes, the IP and ISP are both MY address, which I assume should be displayed (since I'm requesting the change). However, on others the ISP host is different and has numbers starting with: 10.10.xxx.xx

Anyone know if that's the key to who's hijacking my account? Is it from Ebay's end? HELP!

When I had my e-mail, Pay Pal and eBay account hacked into and finally once I go control off my eBay account I had about 25-40 360 HDD drives selling during one day auctions. This was when they were scarce.

To be on the safe side I would change my e-mail and Pay Pal if you have one.

I do this regularly and it still happened. I check it afterward, and nothing came up, so yeah, either its not being detected or something else is going on. Strange for sure.

One thing you do want to be careful of though. NEVER open e-mail from ebay or paypal. If you see a message from them, delete it and open it only from your ebay message box. This is a good way to avoid spam and phishing messages. I beleive this is how they got me. Lesson learned.

This just happened to me today. 29 DVD box sets were listed on my account. Went through and changed ebay and pay pal passwords and filled out the online form to make sure I'm not charged the $87 listing fee balance on my account.

This seems to be happening a lot lately.
