    RIP Roscoe Lee Browne

I remember him best as the snobbish attorney who was in an elevator with Archie Bunker and a pregnant woman. I didn't know he won the 1951 world championship in the 800 yard dash. One of the great character actors of all time.

I remember him as Cliff Huxtable's english professor friend who recited Shakespeare to Theo and Cockroach.

      RIP.

He also recalled that early in his career, a director told him that his speech sounded "white." Browne's response was simple and to the point: "We had a white maid."
        Great stuff...

I remember him for his role in Sanford and Son, when he played one of Donna's patients. And his role in the classic "Uptown Saturday Night", with Bill Cosby and Sidney Poitier, as the fake behind congressman.

I know right. We also lost Calvin Lockhart on March 29 too, The Original Biggie Smalls.

I just saw an episode of The Cosby Show where him and Cliff were playing pinochle together. Weird.

Remember he turned the whole office inside out... He turned the picture of Richard Nixon around to show one of Malcolm X or something like that... Freaking hilarious movie. I had a mind to buy it in February, Walmart had it on sale for like 7.99. I coulda had that and "Let's Do it Again" for 15 bucks.

I watched that as well...Thursday morning around 1ish in the A.M. I was sitting at Sunrise Hospital on a drunk who was being released and I had to transport her to jail for DUI. I got to drink soda, watch TV, and talk to several of the cute nurses and paramedics who kept coming around. Tough job...too bad they released her a short while later.

Great actor. Brilliant actor. Never would have thought a man who spoke like he did would have such a flair for comedy.
