    Clean-slate internet?

NEW YORK - Although it has already taken nearly four decades to get this far in building the Internet, some university researchers with the federal government's blessing want to scrap all that and start over.

The idea may seem unthinkable, even absurd, but many believe a "clean slate" approach is the only way to truly address security, mobility and other challenges that have cropped up since UCLA professor Leonard Kleinrock helped supervise the first exchange of meaningless test data between two machines on Sept. 2, 1969

Anyone agree or disagree? or have any pro's or con's to starting it all over?

Interesting read, but this doesn't belong in the OS Neighborhood. I'm moving it to Entertainment & Technology.

Screw that. Anything the U.S. government touches turns to crap.

Leave the Internet alone. It's one of the last bastions of free speech and expression left in the world.

            Re: Clean-slate internet?

The internet in it's current state was never designed to handle the scale in which it is currently handling. So a clean slate approach would be beneficial because so much more can be done in regards to security and manageability.

On the other hand, starting from a clean slate would be a HUGE undertaking and very difficult and timely to implement.
