    Big Shug - It Just Don't Stop(calling out Nas/Jay)

I just heard the "It Just Dont Stop" track Primo produced for Big Shug. Very Interesting song. Now Big Shug is just an average MC and is somewhat average on this track, but I agree with some of his comments. However, DJ Premier should've gotten someone with real skillz to make this point.(Blaq Poet, Freddie Foxx)

Obviously Shug says it indirectly but he makes reference to the fact the Nas("nasty man") and Jay-z("little fella") have forgotten about DJ Premier and need him for those classics tracks. I don't know if they need him generally but their albums(especially Jay's which sucked in my opinion) would've sounded a whole lot better with him on it. Some of Nas' best songs, were Primo produced.

Jay-z was asked by Marley Marl, "Why don't you have Primo on the Kingdom Come album?" he was actually quoted as saying in response, "I think Just Blaze is the new Primo, I have good chemistry with him right now."

The new Primo? are you kidding me Jay? Just Blaze is nice, but he AINT Primo that's for sure. Wow...

    Peep that track...

    BTW, the beat is crazy

      Um, remember "The Militia"?

Shug is one of Primo's crew and they're pretty close, he's not some guy he just signed and had sitting on the shelf for 11 years. lol, j/k If anyone is gonna go to bat for him like this, it'll be Shug. Freddie Foxxx got his own battles to start.

Why aren't major label MCs getting beats from Premier as much anymore? He doesn't fit in with the Major Label formula. They can get their "street tracks" cheaper than what Preem will take. Most of the old guard can't get the work they used to. Marley Marl, Pete Rock, Large Professor, Showbiz, Diamond, heck even the Beatnuts aren't getting work like they used to. Nas should've done a version of "Where are They Now" for producers.

I wouldn't cry for Premier, he has his Christina Aguliera money and other pop people who want his beats.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

He only got the Christina gig because she was adament about it and has some clout. Who are the "other pop people"? Just curious, because I don't remember hearing anything.

I think this is pretty neat. I doubt he's on the pop game like Timbo, even though Timbo is known as a plagiarist for a minute now.

I thought I heard he was doing some other pop music stuff. I don't know the names, I just saw it announced with the Aguilera thing.

That Heather Hunter beat was good. What a waste. Song is called "Freak Like Me", if anyone cares.

Yea that the beat was sick. Primo has done a lot underground classics for lesser known artist such as Heather.

                  This one is crazy:

I agree. Primo doesn't charge much compared to producing standards anyway. The last I heard, I believe he was charging 300-600k per beat. That may have changed recently. Where as Timbo and Neptunes charge in the millions. Why pay 600k for a "street track" when you can get someone like Khrysis or 9th who will charge cheaper...

Damn that's a lot of money for a beat. I remember hearing about Lil Jon chargning 100K a few years ago and I thought that was high.

If going by the song "Give It To Me" then Timbaland only charges half a mil or so.
