    Anyone have a Mac Mini?

I'm thinking of getting one, just to get the feel of the "Mac" OS. I've never played around w/ a Mac, so I figure now is a good time. I have an iPod and hear it works much better on the Mac, than it does on the PC. Can anyone comment on it?

    Thanks.

I have never used an iPod on a PC, so I can't comment on if it would be "easier" to use or not.

I have used a mac for the past 3 years and won't go back. I was a hardcore PC gamer for probably 7 years, and purchased an iBook for the portability. Have not looked back since. My wife now has an iBook, I have a powerbook, we have three iPods, and always love the new apple designs. I have fallen in love with the OS, and the ease of use and integration with all their products.

My advice to you is to use whatever you want to use, and whatever you enjoy to use. The bottom line is that you can get the job done with windows, osX, Linux etc. Use whatever you enjoy to use on a daily basis without listening to the hardcore zealots that bash the competition. I can't stand to hear a brainwashed applefan that talks nonstop about the evil M$ empire, and vice versa. I work in IT on a PC all day, and love to come home to my apple. But thats just me.

I bet you could purchase a mac, and play around with the OS for a period of time. If you don't feel comfortable return the computer. Just give it a try.

I made the switch in the summer of 2005 (got a PowerBook G4), and also haven't looked back. I'm sure there will be people who can bring up some exceptions to this statement, but it sums up my general feelings about the Mac vs. PC debate: take everything that annoys or bothers you about your pc, its operating system, and how it works with peripherals, and also everything that you wish it would do better......that's a Mac with OSX. One of the best choices I've ever made.

By the way, if you haven't already, head over to your local Apple store (if there's one nearby), where you can play around with OSX as much as you'd like. I've also found most Apple Store reps to be extremely knowledgeable and helpful - they're usually Mac users and fans themselves, in addition to being salesmen/women.

I got a MacBook this past summer for school. I really enjoy using a Mac.

I cant say whether its necessarily better or worse than a PC... I'm not knowledgable enough. I just know that it is fun, practicle and has a lot of neat features.

ditto...got my mac and pc was in my rear view mirror! as for the apple store employees, they are very knowledgable and helpful with all the apple products..moreso than those zit faced teens at the mega stores (best buy, c city etc..)

I got a macbook for christmas. It was my first time using one other than at the apple store. I like it a lot. I used my ipod for years on a pc and then i switched it to the mac. The only difference i can tell in the way it works is that it is a little quicker but i think that is more an effect of the macbook just being faster than my 5 year old xp desktop. I just got ms office for it and that works pretty good. Make sure to mess around with some of the free 3rd party apps like quicksilver, growl, handbrake, etc... I read www.tuaw.com alot for mac stuff. Its a pretty good site.

Once you switch to Mac you will never go back to PC....I just love my iMac. Plus, I know that you have kids and it is really easy with Mac and some of their programs to do some great looking powerpoints and presentations.

If you don't have a pressing need for a new computer now, the Mac Minis are WAY overdue to be upgraded (to Core2Duo from CoreDuc) so it might be worth waiting at least until the WWDC for a potential update.
