    Quicktime Error in IE7

I know that IE7 is not the "best" browser, but my wife and still use it most often.

Recently I've noticed that I can't view or listen to any Quicktime files. When I go to a page, I get the following error message: "The plugin was found, but an error in the plugin has occurred". When I refresh the page, I get the typical IE error, where it encountered a problem and has to shut down.

Is there a fix for this? Is anyone else having similar issues? I have the latest patches, Windows updates, Quicktime/ITunes combo, and have run extensive spy and virus scans and nothing has turned up. Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Johnny,

I had a friend have the same issue until he uninstalled it and reinstalled it again (Quicktime).

Evidently, there is some security issue with Windows that messes with Quicktime. I have never had the issue, but after several attempts, my friend finally got it going. He said he simply uninstalled it then reinstalled it again.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

Well I did that, it worked fine for a day, and now it's back to the damn plug-in error!

      Any other suggestions?

Use Firefox/Opera is honestly my best suggestion.

Or attempt to rollback to IE6.

          My suggestion: Firefox.

Is there any fix OTHER then switching browsers? I've thought about rolling back the Quicktime installation, but then I can't watch the HD trailers (they require Quicktime 7). I also can't find an early version of Quicktime 7, other than the one on the Apple site.

            Grrrrrr!

Why are you so against switching browsers? Just wondering.

It's just the familiarity. I have Firefox and have used it (in particular to view the HD Quicktime trailer of "Ratatouille") but my wife isn't eager to change and hell, I generally like IE7 now that I've gotten the pop ups to disappear as well as the ads (heresy I'm sure )

My wife was much like your wife, but I finally converted her with all the plug-ins you can get for Mozilla Firefox.
