How likely are 3D websites to become the norm?

How likely is it that in the future web browsing will take place in a kind of 3d environment? I assume that it would not become common until the average connection speed of a home user was much higher, due to the amount of data involved, but would people accept it?
It may become one of those things that seems awesome at first, but when it comes down to it, be boring or frustrating to use all the time.
I ask because I saw a website, budbucks.co.uk, its just a budweiser promo site, but what caught my eye was the "point and click" 3d interface, kind of like Myst (such a game...) but with animated transitions.
Does anyone here know of any sites with a similar design? I guess deep down I just want to re-create the scene in Futurama where they walk through the internet, and eBay is a real auction house

I went to http://www.doritos.com/ the other day because I noticed they had some new chips and I wanted to know more about them. I think the 3D-ness of their site was too much for me. I got frusterated when I couldn't find what I wanted to know. Actually the 3D part was cool, it was more of Doritos not planning out the website a little better I think.

http://dominos.com/home/index.jsp has a little 3D-ness to it as well which works pretty cool.

Is that what you are looking for?

That Doritos site was kickass. I liked it. Especially when I saw those 2 bags of chips fight. They put alot of work into it.

The driving force of the interent is information. The manner in which a website displays that information is crucial to how readers interpret/respond to that information.

One of the reasons Flash has never been embraced by many sites is because it costs a lot of money to develop a Flash based site, and many just don't see it as a necessity. It's cute and impressive at first, but unless you have some high end things going on, Flash just isn't worth it.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.
