i'm looking to start a website that will involve transactions. what is the best website creator and/or host. I want something professional looking but not that expensive. i used to do geocites/tripod but looking to have my own domain name as well.

Well GoDaddy.com offers hosting for $4/month with your own domain name, not too shabby.

As for a site creator, I like Macromedia Dreamweaver myself, but that can be expensive the legal way.

dreamweaver is the ****, you can make almost anything with it. There's even tons of templates to use if you are clueless with making websites.

You're going to thank me for this one.. I've been signing up with this company for the past couple of years.. Currently I have 3 domains being hosted by them. And so far no problems what so ever. Anyways the best part is that they are holding a promotion, that ends TODAY, that includes a full years worth of hosting as well as the domain and other goodies for the low price of $10.00.

really like what? Can you post a link? I heard of this deal at slickdeals.net. Its a great site with alot of active members. Most if not all of them have said that netfirms is a great hosting site. Check it out

I really think those reviews that you read about netfirms, looks at the price first, then thinks that "since its this cheap, it has to be bad" type of reviews. At this price.. you can't really lose.

The complaints were about slowdowns, 404 errors, customer support, and MySQL issues.

These are two of the first on Google, where I looked for reviews. There are some good reviews as well, but mostly about the price. I think I'm going to try it out anyway. Thanks again for the link.

What's the catch?

Most likely the catch is that it is on a shared server.

It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it could cause your site to run slow and at times not even load.
