    Computer help:

How do I change a program to be the default?

For example, I recently downloaded OpenOffice. I want this to become my default text/writing program. So when I open email, start a new document, etc, it uses that program.

    Thanks.

            You running XP?

If you are, you can go into the Start Menu, there should be something that says Set Program Access and Defaults.

It should have some of what you want.

If you hold the shift key down and right click on a word file or excel file etc you have the option to choose 'open with'. Select 'open with' and then selct open office and make sure you check the box that says 'always use this program to open files of this type' or something to that effect.

All that has is Web Browser, E-Mail, Media Player, Instant Messaging, and Java.

It doesn't ask me for "always use this program..." It only asks me that when I open a file via email, or whatever. And, even, I can't find the .exe file for Open Office.
