    Computer help please....

A friend of mine has a couple of PCs that cannot play AVI's. No matter if the videos are opened in Media Player, of if it's the intro to a game, the video looks like a scrambled mix of reds, grees, and yellows. The file plays, and the sound works fine, but that's about it.

His other PC will play the videos, but will only show the bottem left portion of the screen. Even resizing the windows makes the video larger or smaller, of course, but it still only shows the bottem right.

Tomorrow, I plan to stop by and see if I can fix these things, but before I do, I thought I'd see if anyone has seen this before, and could offer any potentional causes for the problems to speed up my troubleshooting.

    Thanks in advance!

What player are you trying to play the AVIs in?

It's probably because you don't have the video codec... that's what I'd think it is.

This is most likely the problem. I'd update any sort of video drivers and media players that your friend's computers have to the latest versions.

Most likely it's the latest divx code that he needs.

I would download the video player VLC.
